Today I am so grateful for living in a state and county with such an abundance of locally sourced fresh produce. From sweet corn, to pears, to homegrown tomatoes, Dane County is rich in delicious, organic produce. We are blessed with farmers markets throughout the city of Madison. Also, I am proud to serve on Mayor Paul Soglin's Madison Food Policy Council as the "Access Advocate". I will be chairing the committee charged with reviewing Madisons policy on healthy vending. I look forward to working with Carmell Jackson, owner and operator of Melly Mell's and with Carrie Edgar, Director of Community Food Systems with the UW Cooperative Extension on this important project. Access to healthy food is a right and not a privilege
